Join us at this special invitation-only event as we celebrate and champion children’s writers and illustrators of colour.

Featuring children’s authors Faridah Àbíké-lyímídé (based in Scotland) and Sarwat Chudda, and author-illustrators Ken Wilson-Max (replacing Nadia Shireen in a last-minute change to the programme) and Emily Hughes.

Come along to hear more about their work and why children from all backgrounds need to see each other in the books they read.

Our featured writers and illustrators are including in Breaking New Ground, a new catalogue, which champions and celebrates 100+ British children’s writers and illustrators of colour. Whatever your interest in books and authors for children, you can explore and access the diversity of literary talent active in Britain today in this beautifully designed resource. Copies will be distributed on the night.

This FREE event is a collaboration between Literature Alliance and Scottish Book Trust. It is part of a national touring showcase in partnership with Speaking Volumes,  Pop Up Projects and BookTrust.

Registration is from 5.30pm and the event will be followed by a drinks reception.
