Visit the Borders Book Festival websiteEstablished in 2004, Borders Book Festival has grown into one of Scotland’s leading literary festivals, welcoming around 34,000 visitors each year to the beautiful surroundings of Harmony Garden and Orchard in Melrose, in the heart of the Scottish Borders.
Over four days each June, the festival brings together celebrated authors, emerging writers and some of the most engaging voices from literature, politics, history, science and the arts. Through lively conversations, thought-provoking debates and entertaining performances, the festival is a place where words come alive, celebrating the power of books and ideas to inform, challenge and inspire.
At its heart is a commitment to making literature accessible to everyone. A vibrant Family Book Festival encourages a love of reading from an early age, while year-round schools and community programmes bring authors, stories and creative experiences to children, young people and wider audiences across the region, both in person and online.
As a registered charity, Borders Book Festival is about much more than four days in June. It is a celebration of storytelling, curiosity and the joy of bringing people together through the written and spoken word.
