Heather McDaid joins LAS as Programme Co-ordinator
Posted on 23rd June, 2026 in LAS

“I’m delighted to be joining Literature Alliance Scotland. Having been a Next Level Awardee a number of years ago, I’ve seen firsthand the benefits LAS offers to the wider literature sector in Scotland and can’t wait to take the role forward.“
Heather McDaid
We are delighted to welcome Heather McDaid to the LAS team as our Programme Coordinator. From early June she’ll be taking a lead on our monthly Newsletter and LinkedIn posts, supporting the Scottish Book Festivals Network to get up and running, and engaging with our Members through our programme of meetings and broader sector discussions. Heather will work closely with the LAS Board on the development of our programme of Members meetings and training opportunities, and with our Transformation Manager, Viccy Adams, to share findings from our ongoing research project, Mapping The Sector.
“As we prepare to launch our new website and an exciting line-up for meetings and discussions for our 2026-27 programme, we are delighted to welcome Heather McDaid to LAS as our Programme Coordinator. I’ve long admired Heather’s work in the sector as both a disrupter and a facilitator and look forward to her bringing that same energy, efficiency and insight to her work with our network.”
Mairi Kidd, Chair of Literature Alliance Scotland
LAS reps from Member organisations have the opportunity to meet Heather at our next Members meeting on Zoom – 3pm, Wednesday 10 June.
Heather McDaid is the award-winning cultural freelancer and co-founder of independent press 404 Ink. Roles have included Publishing & Campaigns Manager at the Terry Pratchett Estate, Programme Support Officer at Publishing Scotland, and Programmer at Paisley Book Festival, amongst many more.
