Visit the Publishing Scotland websiteEstablished in Edinburgh in 1974, Publishing Scotland is the network, trade and development body for the book publishing sector in Scotland. We are a membership body and a charity, and act as the voice and network for publishing, to develop and promote the work of companies, organisations and individuals in the industry, and to co-ordinate joint initiatives and partnership.
We represent Scottish publishing at a variety of domestic international trade fairs and events year round, and oversee international initiatives including the Booksource Go-See Fund, the Translation fund, the Author International Travel Fund, the International Fellowship Programme and the Accuracy, Sensitivity and Authenticity Fund. We also curate BooksfromScotland.com — an online showcase of of thousands of Scottish books — and organise the annual Scottish Book Trade Conference alongside other professionalising projects.
We also provide leadership on governance and policy areas including Sustainability, Equality, Diversity & Inclusion, and AI.
We are also the majority shareholder in a book distribution company, BookSource, based outside Glasgow, which we set up in 1995.
