Sophie Moxon joins LAS Board

Posted on 25th February, 2026 in LAS, News

We are very excited to share that Sophie Moxon has joined the LAS Board of Trustees.

I’m incredibly delighted to be joining the LAS board and connecting with so many inspiring and committed colleagues from across the literature sector. I look forward to helping shape the direction of LAS at this crucial and exciting time.

Sophie Moxon, Executive Director of Edinburgh International Book Festival

Sophie is Executive Director of the Edinburgh International Book Festival, a global gathering point for creativity, connection, and critical thought. For over 20 years, her work has centred on building communities around books and reading. Sophie joined the Book Festival in 2015 and has worked across the organisation during a period of significant change. Prior to that she spent 11 years at Scottish Book Trust, as Live Literature Scotland Manager, Head of Programme and then Deputy and Acting Director. She has also worked for Arts Council England and in development, marketing and PR.

“We are so pleased to welcome Sophie to the board of LAS, representing Edinburgh International Book Festival. We know our members will benefit from Sophie’s deep understanding of the festivals, literature and reader development landscape. Sophie will be no stranger to many of you and we look forward to introducing her to you soon if you haven’t already met.”

Mairi Kidd, Chair of Literature Alliance Scotland

Literature Alliance Scotland is a registered charity, overseen by a Board of Trustees nominated from within the LAS Membership: we aim for a representative spread of the broader sector LAS supports. Many of our trustees are also published writers and bring with them extensive experience as freelancers as well as from previous roles within the Literature sector in Scotland and further afield.

If you are a current LAS member interested in nominating yourself or someone else from your organisation to join the Board of Trustees, please get in touch with our Chair, Mairi Kidd, for an informal discussion.
