To Be Continued and Writer Bursaries now open for applications

Posted on 17th July, 2026 in LAS, News

Two of our professional development opportunities are now open for applications, closing on 30th August.

Writer Bursaries for works-in-progress offers 4 bursaries of £3,000 each to support writers currently based in Scotland who meet the eligibility criteria for this opportunity in full. The bursaries will be awarded using a random lottery system process as part of our ongoing research into perceptions of fairness and gatekeeping. The application form is purposefully short, to reduce the burden of unpaid admin for creative practitioners in applying for opportunities of this type.

To Be Continued is a career-development programme for literature professionals with at least 5 years experience working in any aspect of the sector. It offers a mixture of group and individual coaching alongside mentoring. The programme is delivered remotely and dates for individual sessions are flexible to fit around existing commitments, both personal and professional. Bursaries are available to support freelancers to engage.

Please help us share these opportunities as widely as possible and encourage individuals within your network to apply. If you have any questions about either programme or need to request adjustments to support you to apply, please get in touch.
